A few months after the launch of the HiLux GR Sport in Thailand, Japan is getting its own version.
Like the rest of the GR Sport models in Toyota's range, the HiLux GR Sport doesn't add any extra features, rather it's mostly a visual update, thanks to revised wheel arches, grille and bumpers, and new black 18-inch alloy wheels.
The GR Sport uses a similar version of the HiLux Rogue body kit sold in Australia, with an overall width of 1900mm, but painted in body colour. The center of the front bumper has a sleeker look and matches the color scheme combined with the TOYOTA grille similar to the Land Cruiser GR Sport.
While the drivetrain remains unchanged, Gazoo Racing engineers have tweaked the chassis to deliver "a special suspension [setup] that improves steering response and provides a smooth, comfortable ride," Toyota Japan said in a translated statement.
Like the HiLux Revo GR Sport introduced for the Thai market in recent months, it is JapaneseHiLux GR Sport received:
- new interior with synthetic leather and suede;
- front sports seats;
- GR Sport badges and instruments;
- dark silver accents in the interior design;
- sports pedals and steering wheel switches.
The Toyota company is constantly looking for opportunities to expand sales of this special Toyota line by entering new markets. It is not yet known whether Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2022 will be delivered to Ukraine. At the moment, this modification is available on the Japanese market.
Those looking for a high-performance Toyota GR HiLux will likely have to wait until the next generation arrives. There are no exact dates, but most likely by 2025, the current generation of the popular pickup from Toyota will not become obsolete.
According to a recent report from the US,The next generation HiLux will besharing its underpinnings with the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck sold in North America, which means a wider variety of transmissions can be offered for the global market.
