Volkswagen Amarok is a success story. Immediately after its release in 2009 and until today, this pickup truck has sold more than830,000 unitsall over the world. However, for the release of the next generation, the management of the company decided to unite with its competitor Ford and do something really interesting.
Amarok 2023 is built on the basis of the recently introducedFord Ranger, from which it took over the platform, functionality and power units. Compared to the previous model, the new Amarok received a more aggressive design with a pronounced individuality. Flattened wheel arches have been retained to maintain similarities in design from the previous generation. In the rear, there are now noticeable C-shaped headlight units and a logo that is located across the entire width of the rear board. In the front part, daytime running lights are also made in a C-shape, but made less expressive compared to the Ford Ranger.
A pickup truck from Volkswagen is somethinggrew in size: at a length of 5,350 mm, it is 96 mm longer than the first generation. The wheelbase was also increased to 3270 mm (+173 mm). As a result, the space for rear passengers and space in the body has now increased a little. In addition, these changes contributedimproving entry and exit angles, which will be appreciated by buyers who drive the Amarok off-road. The new Amarok will be able to overcomefords up to 80 centimeters deepcompared to 50 cm in the last generation.
It also increasedcarrying capacityAmarok 2022 from 1 ton to 1.16 tons. The body is now 1544mm long and 1224mm wide, which means it can fit a Euro pallet between the wheel arches. As before, the pickup truck from Volkswagen is available in both single and double cab versions.
When choosingpower unitsthe company made a bet on diesel fuel, offering buyers 3 two-liter diesels with a capacity of 150 to 210 hp. and one 3.0-liter V6 with 241 hp. (600 Nm). But for gasoline lovers, Amarok 2023 will receive a 2.3-liter TSI (Ecoboost) from the American partner for 302 hp. and 452 Nm of torque. Paired with four-cylinder engines, buyers will be able to choose from a manual five-speed or automatic six- and ten-speed transmissions, while the V6 and gasoline unit will always go with the Ford Ranger's 10-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of equipment, the Amarok 2023 model range in Europe will consist of4 complete sets:
- Basic version (name not yet known).
- Life.
- Style.
- Aventura.
*In the US market, an exclusive version will be available for buyersPan Americanawith a package of options aimed at off-road.
It is already installed in the databaseLED lighting, electric mirrors, 8-inch instrument panel and 10-inch multimedia system screen, as well as cruise control, traffic sign recognition system, lane keeping assistant, reversing radar, parking camera inch steel wheels.
The top-of-the-line Aventura configuration turns the Amarok into a luxury pickup truck with alloy wheels,IQ.Light light-matrix headlights(also available in the Style version), a different front bumper and chrome parts. As in the Style model, the multimedia touch screen has an increased diagonal to 12 inches. The Amarok will also feature a range of driving aids and equipment to ensure the comfort and safety of the driver and passengers. Volkswagen promises a comfortable and functional interior with plenty of storage space. And it must be true, since the interior is quite similar to the Ford Ranger, which has received many positive reviews and is selling successfully. The main differences between the VW and Ford are the steering wheel, the physical buttons under the touchscreen and the location of the center console.
Volkswagen has not yet announced the dates and prices for its new pickup truck, but most likely the novelty will arrive in showrooms closer to the end of the year. Likely,the company plans to start sales from the marketsUSA, Asia, some countries of Europe and Africa, as well as Australia, where medium-sized pickups are extremely popular.
