Stages of Schnorkel installation

To ensure the productive operation of the car engine without failures and "choking" when driving on small bodies of water, it should be usedsnorkel. This device is a plastic pipe that is attached to the fender of the car and is intended for injecting air from the outside, not from the engine compartment. As a result, water hammers, which severely damage the connecting rods of the vehicle, are excluded.

Installing a snorkel is a sequence of actions

Before starting to install the snorkel, you need to make sure you have the necessary tools and consumables. As a rule, installation does not do without the following devices:

• 10-millimeter drill and 4-millimeter drill;
• electric jigsaw;
• polyurethane sealant;
• anti-corrosion primer;
• masking tape;
• rulers;
• marker;
• rivet gun;
• set of wrenches.

The toolkit is prepared - you can start the installation, which consists of the following stages:

1. First of all, remove the wheel and wing protection located on the side of the snorkel to be installed. We use a jack to lift the car;
2. Next, we disconnect the air filter tank and the nozzle responsible for air injection;
3. Then - we determine whether the snorkel fits tightly to the car. To check this - we fit it to the body, mark the contours and evaluate the holes formed;
4. Next - measure the diameter of the inlet gap on the snorkel (mark in the form of a circle of the appropriate diameter (plus 1-2 mm));
5. Drill a hole in the middle of the circle using a 4 mm drill bit. After that - use a jigsaw to make a hole of the previously indicated diameter;
6. Let's not forget about fastening the body part. Using a drill, 10 millimeters long, we make slits in the wing of the car and treat them with a primer on the edges;
7. Following this - we install the external air intake and fasten it with bolts;
8. We complete the installation by sealing the inlet pipe and connecting it (we use a corrugation) to the air filter tank. The two edges of the corrugation are securely tightened with clamps.

Importantly!Be sure to check the snorkel for serviceability. To do this, start the car engine and put a plastic bag to the head. If all is well with the tightness, the bag will tear under the flow of air sucked by the snorkel. Otherwise, re-examine all connections and seal them.
