New Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 250 - Future bestseller?

The Toyota company has officially presentedthe next generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. After a 14-year hiatus, the Prado has received a generation update and will take its place between the Fortuner andLand Cruiser LC300in the global range of Toyota SUVs. Two new modifications have been added to the Prado model range -Land Cruiser J250 and Land Cruiser 70, made in retro style.

In international markets, the model will have the suffix "Prado", but in the US it will be known as "Land Cruiser". In 2024, updates include a new design, chassis and a major addition in the form of different powertrain options, including several mild hybrids.The V8 is unfortunately no longer available.

The new generation Prado returns to its original form with neo-retro styling, a rectangular silhouette and an appearance similar to its cousin -Lexus GX, on the basis of which it is built.

The 2024 Prado (J250) will be produced in three variants:

• base model LC 1958;
• Land Cruiser;
• top LC First Edition.

Each of the three versions has unique external features, but they share common elements such as a rectangular grille with "Toyota" lettering, standard 18-inch alloy wheels and all-weather tires. As an option, Toyota also offers 20-inch ones.The LC J250 and LC 70 have different headlights. On the J250 they are rectangular, and on the 70 there are retro-style round LED headlights (hello FJ-40 andFJ Cruiser).

Dimensions Pradoare 4,925mm long, 1,980mm wide and 1,859mm tall, making the new model 100mm longer, 95mm wider and 20mm taller than its predecessor. The new generation of Toyota Prado: Engines

Depending on the market, the new generation Prado has several engine options. The most common in the regions will be a 2.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a 2.8-liter diesel engine combined with a hybrid system. The gasoline engine develops a power of 330 hp. and a torque of 630 newton meters. In addition, a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 163 hp will also be available for the market of Eastern Europe and Japan. and 246 Nm.

The diesel engine works in tandem with a 48-volt electric motor, developing a power of 204 hp. and a torque of 500 newton meters. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed I-Syn automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via a low-ratio transfer case. The hybrid system is equipped with a nickel-metal hydride battery with a capacity of 1.87 kilowatt-hours, located on the rear axle.

Off-road capabilities of the new Prado 250

In addition to the transfer case with a reduced gear ratio, the new Prado has many features that elevate its off-road capabilities to the rank of the best. These include different modes of movement with various types of coatings,locked rear differential, multi-lever rearpendant, a system of assistance during the descent from the mountain, as well asCrawl function, which works as cruise control at low speed.

Besides,Prado is equipped with an entry angle control system31 degrees and the descent angle is 25 degrees.The ground clearance of the car is 220 mm. Other convenient features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen for controlling the car's entertainment system, wireless charging, a head-up display, heated and ventilated seats, multi-zone climate control, a 14-speaker JBL audio system, and more.

When will it be possible to buy a new Prado 250 in Ukraine?

Toyota has not yet announced anything. But the new Land Cruiser Prado or J250may appear in Ukraine in the near future, because for Europe it is planned to go on sale in the 1st quarter of next year. This model promises to be a strong competitor to real SUVs, such asLand Rover Defender, Suzuki Jimny andJeep Wrangler.
