The team of designers and constructors of the European division of Toyota presented the Toyota Compact Cruiser EV concept at an international competitionCar Design Award 2022and received the award of the same name, as well asthe title of the best concept car of the year. For the first time, this concept was shown as part of the presentation of Toyota's electric line last year, but there was no information about the SUV.
Now it is known that this design is in the style of modelsLand Cruiser FJ40andFJ Cruiserwill be used in the brand's future electric Jeep, which the company plans to release in a few years.Extended wheel arches, protective plates on the bottom,roof rackand raised bumpers hint at an off-road component.
As for the interior of the car, it was shown only in one frame in the presentation. From this photo, you can see the flattened steering wheel and the currently popular horizontal instrument panel and multimedia screens.
The power plant, most likely, will betwo-engine layoutwith batteries in the bottom and a four-wheel drive system. The company plans to develop a production model of this compact SUV, which will probably be calledLite Cruiser, after several years.
