The President of Ukraine signed Law No. 4188-IX, also known as the "jeeping law", which significantly restricts the movement of off-road vehicles in nature reserves, sanctuaries and other protected areas. This step is aimed at protecting the natural reserve fund of the country from anthropogenic influence.

What the new law changes
The document prohibits the movement of mechanized transport within the territories and objects of the nature reserve fund. Exceptions are specially designated roads. Namely:
- public roads;
- roads located in populated areas;
- roads that are on private territory.
Who does the restriction apply to?
The ban applies to all types of off-road vehicles, with the exception of:
- special services (environmental inspectors, law enforcement officers, rescuers);
- military units during the execution of tasks;
- employees of enterprises servicing the infrastructure of protected areas;
- local residents who permanently live within reserves and natural parks.
Thus, ordinary fans of off-road recreation will no longer be able to use protected areas for extreme trips and off-roading.

Additional innovations
In addition to the prohibition of "jeeping", the law provides for the expansion of the classification of nature protection zones. In particular, mycological sanctuaries — territories that protect rare species of mushrooms — were added to the reserve fund.
The adoption of this law was the result of a long discussion and pressure from the environmental community, which demanded stricter control over the preservation of natural areas.
The law entered into force from the moment of its official publication, and its full text is available on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
