Completely electric Jeep Avenger is a novelty for Europe

Jeep presented its first BEV model at the Paris Motor Show. Electric Jeep should appear in Europe in early 2023. Technical specifications are largely in line with other Stellantis models, but the concern has not yet decided on a price, despite the fact that it is taking pre-orders for the "1st series" Jeep Avenger.

Jeep Avengeris a compact SUV equipped with a second-generation 400-volt electric drive - the first result of a joint venture between Stellantis and Nidec. The Jeep uses a 115 kW electric motor and a 54 kWh battery. These are the same parameters as the Peugeot e-308, e-208 and DS 3 E-Tense - the latter two models will be updated for this purpose, while Stellantis will produce the e-308 and its estate with this generation of drive from the start.

The battery pack consists of 17 modules and 102 cells with a chemical composition of NMC-811 and providesrange of 400 kilometersin the WLTP combined cycle. Of the 54 kWh of total energy, 50.8 kWh are usable. The battery can be charged with a direct current of up to 100 kW. In the announcement, Jeep lists the Avenger's charging time as 24 minutes, charging the battery from an unusual 20 to 80 percent. Other Stellantis models typically require 30 minutes for a standard ten to 80 percent charge. The AC charging power is 11 kW.

At 4.08 meters long, the Avenger was designed "specifically for the needs of European consumers". Jeep is mainly targeting the fast-growing B-SUV segment. In terms of dimensions, the Avenger is positioned as the new entry-level model as it is 16 centimeters shorter than the Renegade.

Both models are based on the common Stellantis modular platform, although the Avenger uses the e-CMP derivative for electric vehicles. However, they are assembled at different plants: the Renegade is produced (mostly as a PHEV) in Melfi, Italy, while the Avenger rolls off the assembly line at the Stellantis plant in Tychy, Poland. Fiat's electric model based on the Centoventi research could also go there.

With the e-CMP, it's also clear: the Avenger will only have front-wheel drive, as four-wheel drive with a second electric motor on the rear axle is not planned for this platform. At the same time, Jeep also emphasizes that the Avenger is the first front-wheel drive car to come with Selec-Terrain technology and Hill Descent Control as standard - this is what it claims sets the Avenger apart from other e-CMP models such as the Opel Mokka-e or Peugeot e-2008. The "Selec-Terrain" system offers six driving modes; in addition to the road modes "Normal", "Eco" and "Sport", there are also unique settings for driving on snow, sand or mud.

Still unusual for e-CMP models, which also had a clear orientation to the road as an SUV, are the following technical characteristics:ground clearance of 200 millimeters Avenger, which is claimed to offer best-in-class performance, while the lean angles (20° front, 32° rear) are also said to be "excellent". The model has short front and rear overhangs, which makes possible such angles of inclination. As Jeep notes, this is not only "indispensable when driving off-road, but also useful in urban life, for example, when climbing a steep parking ramp."

Jeep Avenger is equipped with assistance systems and connectivity functions familiar to other models. All versions are equipped with an infotainment system, and the touch screen has a diagonal of seven or 10.25 inches, depending on the configuration. If we talk about the size, then the trunk holds 380 liters.

The well-equipped Jeep Avenger '1st Edition' can be reserved until November 30. However, the final prices for the special model and the following standard equipment are not yet known.
