Indian automaker Mahindra is developing a new pickup called the Global Pik Up. With this model, the company plans to enter the segment of expensive medium-sized pickups and compete with such bestsellers as Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi L200 and Ford Ranger.
It is known that the pickup is created on the extended base of the Mahindra Scorpio-N second-generation serial off-road vehicle.

Exterior
The concept presented to the public has a rather neutral appearance. In the exterior, there are no non-standard outrageous solutions designed primarily to attract attention.

LED optics are installed in front. It has a familiar shape, contrary to the current trend for narrow headlights, and at the same time it does not seem old-fashioned. Designers tried to add brutality to the car with the help of a clumsy front bumper, as well as many off-road accessories.

The exhibition specimen was equipped with large wheels, power thresholds, a winch, a snorkel, a roof rack, body arches and an LED beam. In general, the pickup has a somewhat conservative, but pleasant appearance.
Interior and equipment
The same can be said about the Global Pik Up salon. It was almost unchanged from the co-platformer Scorpio N. In the center is a small 7-inch touchscreen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Despite the external simplicity, the car will have decent equipment. The creators of the pickup truck promise a Level 2 ADAS driver assistance system, which includes:
- adaptive cruise control,
- lane keeping
- automatic emergency braking,
- driver fatigue control and other functions.
Also among the options will be semi-automatic parking, setting the behavior of the car for different road surfaces, support for the 5G network.
Technical features
Like the Scorpio N, Mahindra's pickup truck is a frame car, with independent suspension at the front and a solid axle at the rear.

As the main power unit, a 2.2-liter mHawk turbodiesel that produces 175 hp is offered. and 400 Nm. A version with mStallion gasoline turbo engine with a volume of 2 liters and 203 hp is also planned for some markets. and 380 Nm.
Two transmissions will be available:
- 6-speed manual transmission;
- 6-speed automatic transmission.
The all-wheel drive system is traditional for many pickups — with a hard connection of the front wheels, the so-called Part-time.
Entering the market
Mahindra plans to sell the new pickup not only in the domestic Indian market, but also in other continents. What is the reason for the word Global in the name of the model. The manufacturer's priority is the markets of Australia, New Zealand, Africa, South America and Southeast Asia.
The full launch of the new product is expected in 2025, but postponements are not excluded. First in foreign markets, and then in India itself.
