The hybrid pickup is based on the familiar Nissan Dongfeng Z9 platform, but the Frontier Pro's exterior has undergone some updates to match Nissan's corporate identity. The most noticeable visual detail is the unique LED line in the front of the car. It is no coincidence that its design evokes nostalgic memories of the classic Nissan D21 from the 1980s, successfully combining the brand's heritage with modern lighting technology.

In general, the styling of the pickup truck is made in the branded Rugged Tech concept, which harmoniously combines modern, smooth lines with a sense of functional brutality and readiness for hard work.

The Frontier Pro interior offers a two-row cabin with five full seats, providing comfort for both work and family travel. As standard, the pickup boasts a panoramic roof that adds space and light to the cabin, a modern 10-inch digital instrument cluster that provides the driver with all the necessary information in a convenient format, and a large 14.6-inch touchscreen for controlling the multimedia system and other vehicle functions. Among the available options that increase the level of comfort, it is worth noting the front seats with heating, ventilation, and even a massage function, which is especially useful during long trips.

The developers of the Frontier Pro paid special attention to the needs of customers who lead an active lifestyle and often use the pickup not only for work but also for outdoor recreation. That's why the truck is equipped with practical roof rails, a convenient retractable cargo compartment lid that protects the cargo from the weather and prying eyes, as well as a unique feature - a built-in onboard generator capable of delivering up to an impressive 6 kilowatts of power to power various external equipment. This can be useful both on a construction site and while camping, providing power for tools, lighting, or even household appliances.

Power plant

At the heart of the Nissan Frontier Pro is an innovative hybrid powertrain that combines an efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine with a powerful electric motor mounted directly into the transmission. Thanks to this combination, the total power of the pickup truck reaches an impressive 408 horsepower, and the maximum torque is an impressive 800 Nm. The Frontier Pro has all-wheel drive, which provides excellent cross-country ability on various types of surfaces. In addition, buyers will have the option of equipping the rear differential with an electronic lock, which will significantly improve the off-road capabilities of the pickup in difficult conditions. One of the key advantages of the plug-in hybrid system is the ability to travel on pure electric power, with a range of up to 135 kilometers, which is quite enough for daily trips around the city without using gasoline. Four driving modes are available to the driver to optimize driving dynamics in different situations: Hybrid, Pure Electric, Performance, and Snow (mode for slippery surfaces).

Start of sales

It is important to note that the Nissan Frontier Pro is the second electrified model in Nissan's new strategic line of “new energy vehicles”, following the N7 compact electric vehicle. The Japanese automaker has ambitious plans to electrify its lineup in China and has announced its intention to bring nine new electrified models to the Chinese market by the summer of 2027. Unfortunately, no official information has been released so far regarding the potential export of the Frontier Pro to other global markets, including Europe and North America. However, given the growing interest in electrified pickups around the world, it is possible that in the future Nissan will consider expanding the geography of sales of this interesting novelty.
