Toyota has officially unveiled the new Land Cruiser FJ — the youngest member of its off-road family. The premiere took place at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, with sales expected to begin in mid-2026.
The model joins the Land Cruiser lineup alongside the 300, 250 and 70 Series, bringing back the classic SUV philosophy — simplicity, reliability and readiness for adventure.

Land Cruiser Lineup Update
The Land Cruiser FJ is designed to broaden access to true off-road capability. It is the most compact member of the family, retaining a ladder frame, classic proportions and distinctive rugged styling.
Toyota aims to make a genuine Land Cruiser more accessible to younger buyers who prefer a more compact, easy-to-use format.

Platform and Construction
The 2026 Land Cruiser FJ is built on the IMV 0 ladder-frame platform shared with the Toyota Hilux Champ. This architecture ensures strength, easy servicing and durability in harsh conditions.
Its short wheelbase improves maneuverability, while the classic frame inspires confidence on mountain roads and sandy trails — a true Land Cruiser character in a smaller body.

Design and Interior
The FJ follows the Prado 250’s design language but with even bolder proportions and simplified forms. Short overhangs, a tall hood and robust cladding create a tough, functional look.
Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Dimensions:
- Length: 4575 mm
- Width: 1855 mm
- Height: 1960 mm
- Wheelbase: 2580 mm
Two headlight options will be available — round retro units or rectangular LED modules — highlighting individuality and the choice between classic and modern looks.

The interior is minimalist: hard-wearing materials, ergonomic switches and easy maintenance. Built for everyday driving, travel and expeditions rather than showrooms.

Technical Specifications
Under the hood is the proven 2.7-liter 2TR-FE gasoline engine known from the Hilux and Fortuner. A naturally aspirated, dependable unit that is easy to service even in the field.
Key Engine & Transmission Highlights:
- 2.7-L inline-4 gasoline — 2TR-FE
- Part-time 4WD with 2H / 4H / 4L modes
- Manual or automatic transmission (market-dependent)
- High ground clearance and short overhangs for confident off-road use
A hybrid variant is planned for select markets, retaining the ladder frame while improving fuel economy with a mild-hybrid setup.

Price, Positioning & Summary
Expected starting price in Japan — from $30,000 to $33,000. This will make the Land Cruiser FJ Toyota’s most affordable body-on-frame SUV, aimed at practical buyers.
Positioned between the Hilux Champ and Prado 250, it offers genuine off-road construction at a reasonable price. Competitors include the Suzuki Jimny XL and several crossovers, but the FJ stands out with its ladder-frame platform.
The Land Cruiser FJ 2026 is a return to Toyota’s roots, combining simple mechanics, compact dimensions and functional design — a true everyday adventure SUV.
