After months of spy photos, leaks, and rumors, Toyota has officially confirmed — the new generation of Hilux will debut on November 10 in Thailand. And it seems the wait was worth it. The teaser video posted by Toyota Thailand finally gives us a good look at the new pickup’s exterior.

The new Hilux has slightly refined its shape and looks ready once again to fight for the title of the world’s most popular pickup.

The front end of the Hilux now looks even more aggressive: narrow LED headlights, a sculpted hood. From the side — the familiar double-cab profile with muscular fenders, and at the rear — new “sharp” LED taillights and a small spoiler on the tailgate.

And, of course, the huge TOYOTA lettering on the grille — just so everyone knows who’s in charge. In the teaser, the pickup stands on black alloy wheels with double spokes — it looks bold, just as a real Hilux should.

Inside — more comfort, less “utility”

The interior hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but a leaked photo of the Hilux dashboard is already circulating online. Expect a digital instrument cluster, a large multimedia “tablet,” and a new, more “SUV-like” dashboard. Interior materials are also promised to improve — now the pickup will be less of a “workhorse” and more of a comfortable companion for long trips.

Under the hood — familiar diesel with mild hybrid

The Hilux remains true to its roots. It will continue to use the updated IMV ladder-frame platform rather than the trendy TNGA-F from the Tacoma or Land Cruiser. However, technically, the pickup will be more advanced — updated chassis, improved electronics, and an expanded set of driver assistance systems.

Under the hood will remain the proven 2.8-liter turbodiesel with mild-hybrid technology — 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Drivetrain options include rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, paired with an automatic transmission.

Some engines (2.4 diesel and 2.7 petrol) will be discontinued, while later Toyota is preparing hybrid and even fully electric versions of the Hilux.

Competition never sleeps

The new Toyota Hilux enters a market where it’s already awaited by the Ford Ranger, VW Amarok, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara, and even Kia Tasman. And if anyone doubts it — Toyota clearly has every chance to reclaim the top spot.
